  2. * TOSFAST.040 - a config file for loading TOS into FastRAM, and
  3.   making it reset-resident.

  5.   Once configured, place the driver in the auto folder like this:

  7.     XBOOT.PRG    boot manager
  8.     68040DRV.PRG    68040 driver
  9.     68882.PRG    68882 emulator (if required)
  10.     ....        everything else comes afterwards

  12.   Notes for TOS/FastRAM users:
  13.   
  14. ~ This config file will currently not work properly without NVDI if you
  15.   have any FastRAM installed. If you do not use FastRAM, then there
  16.   is no problem. The VDI will try to Blit data to and from FastRAM as
  17.   soon as the Desktop loads from ROM and the result is nasty looking
  18.   icons and frequent crashes. With NVDI installed, the blitter is
  19.   bypassed and no harm can be done. If you don't have NVDI, then you
  20.   will need to use the driver's VDI blitter patch option instead.
  21.   
  22. ~ This version also assumes no SCSI devices are present before drive
  23.   letter 'G'. In other words, C,D,E & F should be IDE (if anything)
  24.   and the rest can be SCSI or even more IDE partitions. Trying to
  25.   use a SCSI drive as letters C->F will probably result in lost data
  26.   if you have FastRAM installed - for the same reasons described above,
  27.   except the DMA chip is responsible here instead of the blitter. Again,
  28.   non-FastRAM users are not affected.

  30.   In order to change the default SCSI/DMA drive layout, it is advised
  31.   that you first read the instructions for using the 68040CFG.APP
  32.   program - making changes to options you do not understand could
  33.   lead to problems with data on your hard-disk.

  36. * TOS.040 - a config file for running standard TOS from ROM.

  38. ~ This configuration is similar to the one described above, except
  39.   for the fact that the TOS ROM is not transferred into FastRAM,
  40.   and is not reset-resident. Most of the points made previously do
  41.   still apply to this version.
